Client Driven Design
Here at Phi Home Designs our work is client driven. We believe the driving force and core of each project is you, the client. Understanding your needs and wants as well as your aesthetic and style preferences is paramount to the success of the design.
To that end we start every design project by listening to you. We then work hand in hand with you in the process of transforming that understanding into the home or space of your dreams. Throughout the project we keep the lines of communication open to ensure that you are in the driver's seat and the entire team is onboard and moving forward with a common goal.
We encourage as much participation in the design process as you feel comfortable with or have time for. We have an open book policy that allows you to see exactly where your project is at and how it got there at any point along the way. Our goal is to take the mystery out of design work and help you understand the process, the costs, and the interconnectedness of the design and the actual construction of the structure.

Team Approach
We approach each design from a team vantage point and the team starts with you the client. Our collaborative process revolves around you and your needs and wants. As the key member of the design team your input, preferences, and goals guide the rest of us.
Your team consists of our in-house draftsmen and designers as well as estimators, carpenters, woodworkers, painters, and landscape designers. The core members of the design team are Erik Durbas, Rob Troxler, and Michael Roy who have had great success as a collaborative team. Additionally, we coordinate with engineers, lighting consultants, energy efficiency consultants, subcontractors, and local officials to ensure a seamless process for your project.
Years ago, Phi Home Designs started as a furniture and cabinet shop designing and constructing custom pieces specific to a particular client and space. We come from a background that is focused on the details and we understand the importance of efficient use of time, energy, and resources. This history has shaped our particular approach to design work and as we have added new members to the team and expanded our capabilities we have taken great care to honor that history.
What does that mean for you and your project? Because we are also contractors, carpenters, cabinet makers, woodworkers, and furniture makers you reap the rewards of our team's complimentary fields of expertise and real world experience. This amalgam of diverse experience allows us to tackle design issues and problem solving dynamically quickly nipping potential problems or pitfalls in the bud while at the same time putting forth creative and doable ideas to help make your project become reality.

Comprehensive Service
We can assist you with any and all steps in the design process from initial site evaluation and structure siting to full-blown "buildable" drawing sets and construction documents. We treat every client and project with the same level of attention and thoroughness. Whether you are looking for assistance on reconfiguring the layout of an existing space, need help designing a kitchen, or need someone to do the full architectural design work on a new custom home we will work with diligence and care to exceed your expectations.
Our knowledgeable staff can assist with any unique considerations that your particular project may require including: energy efficiency needs, land use/site restrictions, marine/aquatic components, environmental allergy concerns, security/privacy needs, etc. We can also help you with color consultation, plumbing/electrical fixture selection, window treatments, furniture selection/placement, and architectural/woodworking accents even accessory selection and placement.
We stay current on the latest design technology utilizing multiple design and rendering programs that integrate fully with each other as well as hand drawings and models/mock-ups as appropriate to each project. Having the ability to work with multiple tools allows us to use each of them as needed to exploit their individual strengths. This makes for an efficient and comprehensive approach to problem solving, scenario/option development, real-time information tracking, and collaborative interaction between client and team members.

Cost Effective
Designs should not evolve in a vacuum, but instead need to exist in the real world with real world estimating being an integrated part of the process. Too often a design has a life of its own before ever being put in front of an estimator or builder. By that time there can often be a disconnect between what is being represented on paper and what the budget dictates.
We start from a proven track record as a contractor building structures on time and on budget. We understand real world costs and we also know alternative solutions to accomplish a given task and stay within budget. Our design team counts on the construction team to provide real-time feedback on budgetary implications of all design elements of any given project. This symbiotic relationship between the design and construction team members offers a streamlined and cost effective approach to your project. The collective back-and-forth of thoughts and ideas within an in-house team keeps projects on track and eliminates possible friction between client, architect/designer, and builder as well as budgetary overages due to miscommunication, assumptions, and a disconnect with ever evolving building technologies. Your project deserves real world numbers not assumptions.
Want us to get even more specific? Call us with your project and allow us to give you real numbers for your individual project.
